Guy Talks
New signing Jamie Guy joined up with the United squad for the first time yesterday and was immediately impressed with what he found. Jamie signed on a season long loan from Colchester and knows what to expect from the season ahead. He told Yellow World:
"I'm impressed by the facilities here. I spent a little while on loan at Cambridge before and I know this is a tough physical league. But I don't mind that at all. I am more than ready to give it everything for Oxford. They are a big club who shouldn't be in the Conference and I want to help them get promoted."
Jamie joined training for the first time but admits he is slightly behind the rest of the squad in their preparations, something he knows he can put right:
"I have done a bit and kept fit all over the summer, and feel fit. We had a week's training but then the first team went off to a training camp this week and because I knew I might be moving on I didn't go with them. I came down and looked around Oxford and liked what I saw at the club. I was still in the gym this week, and trained with the youth team, and then I trained with Oxford yesterday so I'm fit enough and still have the rest of pre-season to get really sharp."
Jamie has had a couple of off field problems which have been in the public eye, but moving to Oxford represents a new start for the 20 year old:
"I had a few personal problems, those have been highlighted I'm sure. But I am looking to get away and get a fresh start. I want to come here, score goals and do well for Oxford and get my career back on track."
Jamie will look to let his football do the talking at his new club:
"I'm from Barking but got scouted playing for Essex, and moved up to Colchester four years ago. Now I'm here at Oxford and it's a bit like first day at school but the lads were very welcoming and I'm looking forward to getting to know them, training with them and then having a successful season together."
