New signing Michael Blackwood has been talking to Yellow World about his arrival from Kidderminster Harriers.

The 27 year old left winger signed last evening and stands by for his debut at home to Histon next weekend. We asked him how quickly the move had come about?

"It all happened all of a sudden. It was all done yesterday when I got a call, the clubs had talked and would I like to go. I accepted straight away. It was an easy decision because although Kidderminster is on my doorstep and easy to get to there are football reasons to think about, and Oxford are a big club. I have played against them a few times now and I know that it's a step in the right direction. I thought, why not take a new challenge? Why not go, play left wing and give my all?"

Michael has played against United twice this season, once on the wing once at left back, but there's no doubt which role he prefers:

"I am not a player who would ever moan about playing in different positions but left wing is my favourite role. I have always enjoyed playing against Oxford and you do remember clubs that you usually play well against. That is in your mind when you are thinking about a move. Now I want to show what I can do for Oxford."

The former Villa youngster had someone to ask about the move to Oxford, with Justin Richards already on loan from The Harriers:

"I phoned him straight away to find out the ins and outs and he only had positives about the club, the manager and the players so I made a quick decision."

Having played in the Football League for Wrexham and Lincoln Michael is still looking to get back to that level, hopefully with The U's:

"That is one of my aims. I was so disappointed that Kidderminster didn't get up there, didn't make the play-offs. My target is to get back into the league, whether that is with Kidderminster or Oxford we will just have to wait and see."
