Darren Patterson sends his side out for the final time this season as they visit Ebbsfleet tomorrow (5.15pm)

Yellow World asked the United boss if he'd like the season to carry on?

"On the form we're in then we'd like the season to continue, but the important thing now is to take this into next season. It's the end of an unsuccessful season. We are just above mid-table, outside the play-offs, and our aim has to be minimum of the play-offs. We go there in good spirits and high confidence. Ebbsfleet have had a decent season but if we beat them we end up above them, so that's the target this week.

"I need to strengthen the squad, to get the right type of player in, and for them to build on what we have just done and to carry that on for the whole of next season."

Darren was asked whether there was any truth in the rumours that other clubs were chasing player of the year Luke Foster?

"I read somewhere that anyone in non-league would love to be at Oxford, and that's the opposite of what I want! I have players here already who are comfortable and just happy to be here. That's not enough. I want players like Luke who want to come here and kick on, do well for themselves and for the club. If I get eleven of those then we have a great chance of getting promotion, and of maybe selling players on and bringing other ones in. Luke came here and played in a three, played midfield or at full back. We switched it and he played in a four for the first time and he's adapted brilliantly really. We got him on a contract and I'm delighted for him. He is learning and growing and in my opinion he gets better every week so I'm not surprised if people are looking at him."

Above all though Darren wants to end the season with a win for the fantastic United supporters:

"The fans have maybe seen that we've been playing with a tempo and been getting the ball down and trying to pass it and I think they've enjoyed that. In all fairness they probably enjoy us winning games even more!

"We need to send them off with a thank you. I can't say often enough that they have humbled me, with their support for me and for the team, and the way they have kept going. It doesn't surprise me because they have been like that since the first day I walked through the door. They are fantastic fans and we need to do better for them."
