Girls under 16 v Wiltshire FA
Goals from Lauren Allison, Harriet Dearlove, Lucy Paley, Nell Boxhall, Emily Moore, Charlotte Comley and Danielle Anderson saw the Girls CoE under 16's come away with a 7-1 victory against Wiltshire FA last Saturday.
Although it was a good solid victory for the girls that will give them a huge confidence boost, the game itself was quite a scrappy affair. We struggled to maintain possession of the ball for any period of time looking to play the difficult pass instead of playing the easy option.
However, there were lots of positives that came out of the game, recently we have been working very hard on our defending, from corners, set pieces and as a unit, so it was pleasing to see our defence looking solid, and the whole team defending well as a unit, allowing Wiltshire FA few goal scoring opportunities.
We attacked with purpose and created chance after chance, which again was really encouraging. We kept the pressure on Wiltshire and pinned them back in their own half for long periods of the game. But for some fine saves from their goalkeepers the score line could have been very different.
Even if we didn't play to our full potential it was a resounding victory that will give the girls the confidence they need to go into our next game against Millwall this coming weekend.
It's important that the girls learn from the game and take what they have learnt in to our next game against Millwall.
