The end of the season but not the end of the hard work as we start to gear everything towards next time around.

First of all this month I would like to thank you for your support throughout 2007/8. It was a tough season but you stuck with us and were quite outstanding in your support, home and away.

We recognised that when we sat down to discuss season tickets and prices for next year, and wanted to find a way of showing our gratitude to you. We studied hundreds of ideas and ways to reward your loyalty, and in the end decided to give five percent reductions on season ticket prices to all of our season ticket holders. It's just a small thank you for your perseverance and belief in the club, and one we felt we owed to you.

Of course, you can help. A number of fans have left the club over the last ten years or so, and we need your help to persuade them to return. Tell your friends and colleagues that something big is going to happen at Oxford United, that the club is heading upwards and that they can feel a part of a real family club again. Season tickets are great value, even if you're coming back to us rather than renewing.

With the 'family club' in mind we have reduced season ticket prices for under elevens to just £60 in all areas. We recognise that not all parents with young supporters wish to sit in the family area, and have made it easier for them to watch the game from their preferred location. We are trying to build for the future in everything we do, and that next generation of support is something we need to work hard to nurture.

The feedback we have received since prices were announced has been very encouraging and the ticket office staff have been busy already. One supporter had downloaded the form and was at the ticket office when it opened last Friday! Thank you to all of the early birds who have booked so quickly, especially those who have taken the time to pay by debit card or cash instead of Credit Cards. The fee on Credit Cards really hurts us financially so if you are in a position to pay by other means we'd really appreciate it.

The biggest incentive to buy season tickets is always the thought of a winning side next time around. We ended the season with a great run, five wins on the trot and nine wins from the last eleven games, and that has made people sit up and take notice. Twenty goals scored and only eight against in those last eleven matches is a recipe for success and has whetted the appetite for the season ahead.

Darren has talked to us about how he would like to strengthen the squad and the type of players he wants to bring in. We talk all the time about the players available and Darren's knowledge of players is extensive. He will only sign players with the right character and hunger, whatever their playing record, and that is why I'm sure he will build on his deserved Manager of the Month award and go on to win many more.
