Phil was part of the famed Crewe academy but didn't manage to establish himself at 'The Alex'. He dropped out of the league but showed what he could do at Moor Green where his dynamic performances in the centre of the park attracted a host of clubs. A trial at Bristol Rovers and offers from a number of clubs followed, but Phil finally achieved his dream of becoming a professional footballer when he signed for The U's in the summer of 2007.
